Humaura - The Indian Connection

Humaura is a Knowledge Network Portal for the people of Indian origin (Desi) in North America. It is a Reviews, News and Knowledge repository built “By Desis For Desis” and provides a platform to collaborate and share wisdom for the greater good of the Indian community. Like other popular Social Networking apps Humaura has the tools needed to share information in an easy way and there by foster a sense of community feeling. Unlike other Indian portals, Humaura empowers the community to share knowledge in the form of Items such as:

Knows - Links to articles and videos on News, Entertainment, Technology, Sports etc.
Events - The Events that are relevant for the Indian community, such as Concerts, Kids activities, Movies etc.
Reviews - Provides reviews that are relevant for Indian community such as Restaurants, Books, Movies, Automotives, Doctors etc.
Answers - A platform where community can ask questions and get answers.

The web version http://www.humuara.com provides all the above functions with a clean and responsive user interface. The initial version of the iOS app implemented Reviews and Events functionality. The next version, coming out soon, will not only enhance these capabilities but also bring in the other two features into the mobile version.

As can be seen in the pictures, a user (with or without login) can look at business establishments based on location, write a review on an existing establishment, view the details about a restaurant etc. In addition, the process of adding a new “Review listing” has been made very easy using location based search of the surrounding businesses.
